Anna Cooper is a British Mezzo soprano originally from Cumbria. Anna is studying at the Royal College of Music International Opera School supported as a Stephen Catto Memorial Scholar. She studied for her undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music and has recently completed her Master’s Degree at the Royal College of Music, supported by a scholarship from the Soiree D’Or Committee, Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust, Yorkshire Ladies Council of Education and the Josephine Baker Trust. Anna went to school at Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale where her performing arts skills were greatly encouraged. Whilst in High school, Anna was a choral scholar for Levens Choir whom she often returns to perform as a soloist alongside. She also sang with Amabile Girls Choir (Kendal) for 3 years whom she met some of her closest friends.
Anna and Liam have been performing together for the past 2 years across the UK. Liam has just completed a masters in Piano accompaniment at the Royal College of Music Piano. He was educated at Methodist College, Belfast where he accompanied the Chapel Choir in its winning performance on RTE’s All-Island school choir of the Year competition, live on television. Prior to university, he was organ scholar of Gloucester Cathedral where he performed on live radio and took part in the summer organ recital series. Liam then held the Wilfrid Holland Organ Scholarship at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge for three years, contributing to several recordings, giving the Radio 3 premier of Robin Holloway’s ‘Sortie’ for organ, and gaining his BA (Hons) in Music. Liam currently studies with Roger Vignoles and Simon Lepper. Liam won first prize in the preliminary round and finals at the Brooks – van der Pump English song competition at RCM this winter (2018) and also accompanied the winner (Emily Jennings) of the 2017 Brooks-van der Pump English Song Competition. Liam was also a finalist in the 2016 Maureen Lehane Vocal awards.
